I was wondering if anyone has an idea for a group name? We were suppose to come up with a group name? I was thinking the maybe Future leaders? What do you guys think?
I like that group name. Ch 6 stated some things I agreed to such as how leadership is seen as men's work and how women have to do twice as much as men to achieve some sort of comparable level with men. I was surprised at the statistic on the average amount of money a women makes is close to $47,000 and men make around $78,000 coming out with a college degree. I wish this could change and women could be looked at as future leaders and influential people rather then being criticized throughout life. The chapter talks about how at an early age we start to make this distinction and expectations in our heads just because of gender differences. In the party politics section we can see the differences women have in governing a country and issues that are top priority. Women leaders focus on education and health/child care whereas men are more aligned with military and security issues. The book states how the democratic party has female leaders and questioning its effectiveness because the question rose as to if foreign leaders would deal with her. I think the fact that the women have a role in the government and seeing a women run for president is a great improvment, although not enough. Women are still looked down up by many and must continue to fight for themselves. Its not fair that they are paid less or not valued as much as men just because of gender bias. Culture as a major play that can influence a women's life. As the book gave an example of the movie Bend it like Beckham and how the girl in their a soccer player was forced by her parents to quit her dreams and conform to the values of their own culture, which limited women's ability.

I need to know who Bell22 is. I think Sable Bell is in another group, so I'm confused! :)
This is great info to know.
